Comic-Con Recap: Wednesday, July 17th

GUYYYYYSSSSSS!!  I've returned from my 3rd year at SDCC, and I think I'm finally DOIN' IT RIGHT.

Awwww yeah!

I know I'm a bit behind the times on the Comic Con coverage, but I was too busy waiting in line (read: sleeping on the sidewalk) to blog.  But even though I'm behind, this is totally the best coverage.  This is not just news and celeb sightings!  Okay, it is that.  But it's also much more personal (and abbrev-laden) than the average news site.

In other words, I'm the best.

Even though we did not have tickets to preview night, we arrived Wednesday morning and immediately went to pick up our badges.  The first thing I noticed was that all the train signs were in Dothraki.

Then we explored the Con-related displays betwixt our hotel and the convention center (which was a blissfully short distance).

We checked out...inflatable Teen Titans...:

...Batman and Robin, plus a bonus Joker with the creepiest eyes...:

They will replace the whale in my nightmares.
...Lego Bag End...:

...and The Mystery Machine!

Then we went to a midnight screening of Psych: The Musical.

The blurry figure arising from the Weiner Mobile is Timothy Omundson, and the picture is blurry because I was screaming like a tween at the Teen Wolf panel.

I mean, just look at him:
...I think I have weird taste in men.  Or I have great taste in pirates.

Speaking of pirates!

Assasin's Creed ran a promo that was simply a pirate ship docked behind the convention center, so we got to walk out of our hotel to this:

Yeah, it was a good start to what ended up being a great con.

More to come!

Wednesday Video: The Fake Geek Guy

Happy hump day!

The weather is gorgeous, the sky is blue with clouds puffier than Care-a-lot, the work day is almost done...I don't know about you, but I need a distraction!

Good thing my dear friend Aly (of Comma Chameleon) shared this delightful, role-reversing video:

This goes perfectly with another facebook find from my friend Matt:

DC Collectibles BOMBSHELLS!

Behold!  My newest cosplay and burlesque inspiration!

DC Collectibles has a line of pin-up-inspired Bombshells coming out in October and available for pre-order RIGHT NOW!

I do have a birthday coming up, so....which one do I want the most?

Concept Art Monday: Celeste Pille

Celeste Pille draws children cartoon characters of the 90s all grown up!

Check out these Rugrats tributes, Angelica (who was always my fave, duh) and a super-hot Chuckie.

DISNEY DUDEZ (Hell Yeah, They Spelled It With a Z)

I know this is my second boy band-related post of the week, but I can't help it!

On Wednesday, I experienced a Final Fantasy dance number worthy of Justin Timberlake's skills.

Today, I give you Disney Dudez (a.k.a. IM5 feat. Todrick Hall).

Gina Torres: Wonder Woman

I mean, she is a wonder woman, but I meant literally.

Deviantart-ist oneoffkritik created this beautiful portrait of Our Lady of Loyalty as Our Woman of Wonder.

Now, to get her to actually play Wonder Woman.... A nerd can dream, right?

Want of the Week: Star Wars Wedges

I already posted a Want this week, but there is so much nerdy swag to honor, for we are living in the Age of the Geek.

Today, I bring you these beauties from DeckoFab on etsy.

OMG SHOES.

For a multi-layered reference, wear them with this guy on your tee.

Cospladies: A New Webseries

EUGGGHHHHHH YOU GUYYYYYYSSSSS

It's the day before a holiday and my office is closing early, so I don't want to do aaaaaannnnyyything except play around on the internet and eloooooooongate my woooooooooords.

In my procrastination, I discovered a new webseries produced by Wizard World called Cospladies.  It's a documentary-style webseries about professional cosplaying ladies!!  So it's obvi totally my jam.

The premiere episode aired this week, starring Ivy Doomkitty.

She's good friends with Frank Cho AND she hugs Stan Lee in this video.

WHEN CAN I MAKE A CAREER OUT OF BEING SEXY AND NERDY!?!!

SDCC Countdown: 2 Weeks to Go

We're officially at 2 weeks before SDCC, and now is the time to perfect your beach bod so that you can wear the sluttiest costume of them all!

Because I'm the type of geek who alternates her comics with fashion magazines, I've already been trying to shed poundage.  [Girls are in a constant state of reshaping their bodies to fit their dreams, and I am no exception!]  But I'm really buckling down starting today, because now we're in the home stretch!!!

My prep is not just about losing weight.  I want to leave for the airport in two weeks feeling just, like, sooooo healthy.

Story time.

The very first year I went to SDCC, I pushed myself to get ready.  I stayed up late and woke up early.  I cleaned the house, I sent emails, I exercised...I really pushed myself to the limit.
When we got there, I continued to stay up late, wake up early, stand in line outside, and of course drink a lot and eat gross food.

So I was sick by Friday.

And there is nothing worse than being sick while on vacation.

Okay, well, like, cancer is worse, obvi.  And animal cruelty.  And having nothing to wear.  But, being sick on vacation is right up there on my List of Shitty Situations.

To make matters even more sucky, it was also my birthday weekend

:(

So I really don't want to repeat that 3peat.  Evar.

So I'm taking two weeks to really focus on improving myself inside and out.

I want to sculpt my abs so I can wear this:

And I want to take my vitamins and sleep a lot so I can do this:

Summer vacation!!  WOOO!!!
